Men's 1st XI Squad 2007 - 2008

After a number of years of what you might call slow but steady progress in North 2 West the first team finally managed to gain promotion to North 1 by winning North 2 West last season!

Having been members of the squad for all those years, myself and some of the other more…erm…senior members are delighted to have achieved what we had been aiming for for so long. This is not to say that the newer additions to the squad have been any less proud however and the team will be taking a fantastic attitude and great team spirit into the coming season on the back of this success.

It is by no means job done and there is a feeling between the players that last season was just the first step towards where the team wants to be in the future and we are now working hard towards this coming season to ensure we can continue our progress with another good year.

2006/07 wasn’t just a successful season for the men’s 1 st team. The whole club performed really well across the board and ended up with 4 promotions and I’d like to congratulate everyone on such a successful year.

There have been some changes to the 1 st team and it’s management over the summer that we have had to deal with but the players have applied themselves brilliantly and there have been more promising signs for the team and the club as we have seen over the summer that there are yet more junior players ready to make the step up to the first team. The challenge now is to find the right time to bring them all in!

I am constantly amazed by how quickly the juniors in the club keep improving and I can’t praise enough the coaches and players within the club that have helped their development along the way.

So the first team are now looking forward to the coming season and the new challenge that comes with it and hope that they can continue the progression of the last few years.
