Although Bolton Hockey Club has been playing hockey for over 50 years. However, 8 years ago, ladies were invited to join the club and since then, the club has gone from strength to strenght.

Within this time we have managed to develop 4 teams and with growing juniors, we are hopeful to expand this even further.

Where we play

The ladies 1st in particular have celebrated a number of triumphs. With experienced players the team first started in Greater Manchester Division 3 in 1998. 4 promotions, 7 cup finals (of which 4 were won – including the English Hockey National Vase competition) followed and the ladies have now been promoted to Northern Counties Premier Division for the first time in their very short history. This success has come from the commitment and the will to win of the players.

Aims

With the commitment and support that we have throughout the Ladies teams, we have the ability to stay in this league, if not, go for promotion.

This is not going to be easy for the girls as we are all aware that we must give over 100% effort in every game we play throughout the season if we are to achieve this.

We are very fortunate to have Claire Macleod as our coach and Sue Buckley as our manager, to keep us all organised and to help us achieve these goals.

Players

With the ongoing success that we have among the team, it all comes down to the players. We have been able to attract players from further a-field including Bury, Oldham and Manchester.

The team has three North of England stars, ranging from U-17's to U-21's. In addition many players have various Lancashire and Gtr Manchester County Caps ranging from U14s – Seniors.

Although the team has a strong squad, we are always looking to strengthen with additional talent.
